DESCRIPTION:NAMI Family to Family classes are every Thursday for 8 weeks beginning March 3rd – April 21st\, 6:00-8:30pm. \nNAMI Family-to-Family is a free\, 8-session education program for family\, friends and significant others of adults with mental health conditions. NAMI Family-to-Family provides information about anxiety\, depressive disorders\, schizophrenia\, bipolar disorder and other mental health conditions. Other topics covered include communication\, problem solving\, treatment and recovery. \nThe course is designed to increase understanding and advocacy skills while helping participants maintain their own well-being. The program is taught by trained family members who have a loved one with a mental health condition. NAMI Family-to-Family is an evidence-based program (EB). You will gain insight from hearing the challenges and successes of others\, and the groups are led by trained leaders who’ve been there. \nBy sharing your experiences in a safe and confidential setting\, you can gain hope and feel a sense of connection. The group encourages empathy\, productive discussion\, and a sense of community. You’ll benefit from other’s experiences\, discover your inner strength and empower yourself by sharing your own experiences in a non-judgmental space. \nNAMI Connection Recovery Support Group will help you: \nAim for better coping skills \n– Find strength in sharing experiences \n– Not judge anyone’s pain \n– Forgive ourselves and reject guilt \n– Embrace humor as healthy \n– Accept that we cannot solve every problem \n– Understand that mental health conditions are no one’s fault and can be traumatic experiences

She will be speaking about typical college-age struggles and concerns and what the typical college students is facing with choices\, technology\, stress etc. We will also be discussing what questions to ask\, signs and symptoms of a mental health condition and how one may help a person with a mental health concern.
